Argh! I had too much to drink this morning and had to make a pit stop in the bushes on the way to work. I guess we in the animal kingdom all think alike - didn't realize there was a big, warm, fresh pile of dog-poop. As I get to the office and put the booties on my cleats I notice it. My well-ventilated shoes are now plugged up with poop. How do I clean it? I ran it under the bathroom sink and tried wiping it, but it ended up pushing it in more like plaster. And gawd, the smell! This is what dogs sniff each other's butts for?! Ungh... No wonder my co-workers are looking at me funny... No really guys, I do bathe everyday.

Use an old tooth brush under running water. If there is still an odor, use Febreze.

Hey Mac, thanks for sharing.

If you let it dry for a few days it will come off easy in a couple of big chunks with a tooth pic. The smell dissipates rapidly and you probably won't even notice it by tomorrow morning.

Word. I can't tell you how many times I've stepped in poop. From being raised and working on a farm through highschool, to running in suburbia. Poop is a short-term problem. Once it's dry, it doesn't smell much at all, and brushes off easy with your roommate's/spouse's toothbrush.

be careful. once it's dry and you start chipping away at it, the smell is quickly reactivated. wash your pedals well too. actually, when you get home just do a complete scrub down in the shower from head to toe.

Aw crap, I forgot about that, too. They've also got poop on them. I guess when I clipped in, it got smushed into there as well.

At least you didn't RIDE through poop. I've had to clean it of my bike tires before

I wasn't on a trail either, this was street poop!

Ha! That's why I have fenders on my commuter bike. No road goo for me.

Two public parks on my route... Both with restrooms.

Funny about the fast food places though. When in France was told that McDonalds had the cleanest restrooms along the hiways.

They also have employees who don't seem to care if you wheel you bike into the restrooms without even buying fries.

I've found that a garden hose is great for blasting dog poop out of tight spaces (shoe treads, tire treads, ect.) quickly and thoroughly. For a shoe, I'd secure it somehow (in a chain link fence, between the bars of a handrail outside of your house, or whatever). Then you just stand back a safe distance and fire away.

However, I don't know about shoes/pedals and water damage (my commuter has toe clips)
