Quick question: driving with recessed cleats?
I forgot to ask this earlier today... I'm borrowing the family car this afternoon -- should I bother taking my work shoes with me or will I be OK driving wearing these?
|
I think if you can walk around all right, you should be able to drive just fine. Nice shoes. Comfy?
|
Yeah great shoes. I often have trouble getting shoes that fit and are comfy. Let's not get into my struggles to find the right road shoes but these commuter shoes... wow, first shoes I tried on and I was sold on them right away (I happened to be out of town somewhere near a Performance store, go figure).
Thanks for the tip on driving. I drive so rarely that it's never come up as an issue. I'm tempted to make these the only shoes I take on this little long weekend. :D |
lol. I tried on like twenty pairs of road shoes before I found my specialized shoes. Don't fit right, too expensive, fugly... it drove my wife near mad. And she loves to shop for shoes, just not in the bike shop. Ah well.
I'd drive in those. You could probably play tennis in them if you wanted to. |

I'd drive in those. You could probably play tennis in them if you wanted to. I guess I could play tennis on a hard court but clay, well, I'd probably get yelled at for ripping up the court. :D (I love clay courts... grew-up playing on them so it's natural :)). |
There's the next duathlon. Biking, Tennis, Biking. Or would it be Tennis, Biking, Tennis?
I've never played on a clay court... or grass either come to think of it. Completely off Topic: What's up with Roddick? |
Never played on grass either. Clay is awesome for showing-off your ground game (I have no serve, really none it's pathetic). I haven't played much in the last ten years. I really miss it!

The drive was a success. No problems at all. I even found a good parking spot. Tomorrow, the big drive.

I've driven barefoot in a pinch, when the only alternative was driving in road bike shoes. But it was a short suburban drive, not NYC traffic.
|
Heh, I don't even think about the NYCishness of driving because it's the only driving I've ever really known. To be honest I enjoy it in a sick sort of way. :D Riding on the other hand... sure I grew-up with the death-defying nature of it but I've done lots of riding when living outside of NYC. Kinda spoils you.
Anyhow, success. Now to convince the wife I only need my two sets of bike shoes (taking both bikes and her bike, man what a great trip this is going to be). |
i get no "pedal feel" in my spd's... i usually bring shoes or just drive with my socks on.

I've driven short distances in Sidi Dominators before, but never tried it with the road shoes. Usually I just take 'em off. |
