Employer considering part-time telecommuting option

My manager mentioned to us today that he was going to ask his manager about letting us tele-commute one day a week, due to the high gas prices! (We have technical jobs, and a laptop and cable-modem connection at home are provided.) Ironically, that reason doesn't apply to me, but they better not exclude me just because I don't "need" it!

We'd all be surprised if management goes along with it anyway. They have historically not been very progressive on the work from home issue here. (The laptops and modem connection are primarily for off-hours support, or of course if you feel like taking your work home with you, which some people actually do, although NOT ME!)

(As another example, I'd never ask for 4 10-hour days here, because much of the management puts in at least 10 hours all 5 days a week already, so why would they let me get away with just 4? )
