Brrrrrr! (nyc)

Wow it was chilly this morning along the Hudson. The temp as taken most likely at the weather station in Central Park is 50deg F, but I call BS. It was colder than that by the river. As soon as I turned left into Midtown I felt warmer! Today's gear: arm and leg warmers with my midweight shorts and jersey, plus the vest part of my convertible jacket. Regular bike socks with my "Roam" MTB/hiking style shoes. I wasn't sure of where my full-finger "wind stopper" gloves were, so I had to blow on my hands from time to time. To think that yesterday morning I was in shorts and jersey (though the arm warmers came out for the ride home).

It was the first crisp autumn morning here as well. +4C in the morning, although I am sure it warmed up pretty quickly. Full long sleeved Gore imitation outer layer, supposedly waterproof and breathable... I will have you know it does NOT work for me. I arrived sweaty, even though I was a bit cold when I started the ride. I will need to find something else for those days it does not rain.

Second chilly morning here (and windy today). I had a wicking t-shirt, arm warmers and a fleece top, cycling shorts and light weight tights on. Yesterday I had a long sleeve jersey, a wind resistant shell and tights on. Once you dress correctly it's really no problem.

Edit: I just realized that on the windy day I wore fleece and on the non-windy day I wore a windbreaker....

Yup, temps certainly dropping here, mother nature must know it's getting late in the baseball season :)

i think today was most likely the last time i'll be going with the short/sleeveless shirt combo. time to dig out the leg warmers and balaclava and such. gotta figure something to do topside too, lightweight sweatshirt of the short term, jacket of some sort later on no doubt.

Same down here. 60's on the way in almost made me consider long sleeves. But of course I was more than comfortable once I got moving. It feels great not to plow through 90%+ humidity and get to work reasonably dry.

in a few months 50 degrees will feel like 90

Indeed. But then I'll be wearing many more layers. :)

yep, i'm amazed at how the body adjust to temperature. last year i remember when it first hit the forty's i felt really cold, but after riding in the teens, forty degrees felt so warm

I saw frost on my ride in this morning, and my comp read 31*F there. Temps varied from 31 to 39*F through the ride. I wore running tights over 8oz lycra shorts, cotton socks & sneakers in toeclips, & long-sleeve underarmor clone under a wicking poly t-shirt (alertshirt). Plus a reflective vest but no warmth in that.

Up here in the NW corner ( of Iowa ) I have had to wear a spandex shirt under a turtleneck shirt, a sweatshirt over that, and a lightweight rain overjacket on top with a lined pair of sports pants so far. It has been getting cold enough on some mornings to consider even more ( 32 deg F on Thursday ). My ankles are getting cold so I ordered 6 pair of Army surplus light wool socks like I wore in the military ( only come in green but meet mil. spec. )
