And then there were three . . . .

. . . cyclists on my entire commute today, that is. I had the Brooklyn Bridge entirely to myself except for three pedestrians. When I got onto Broadway, I saw two other cyclists and there was one in Brooklyn on Smith Street.

Traffic was really light, too. This was the first "rain day" for my daughter in her bike seat. the rain cover worked great and she arrived at daycare in tip-top form.

I love the rain. Wondering why there ain't more bikes out there with all the good advice on this forum for all-weather commuting.

I only saw 1 other cyclist on my way to work today going up brooklyn into queens. Then again, I think I was the only person out there by choice; a 20mph headwind and horizontal sheets of rain isn't exactly too encouraging.
Some old jewish guy cut me off though, thank god for disc brakes otherwise I would've hit him as he blew pass me at 25mph (while i was doing 20) only to slam on his brakes to get into a parking spot. I shouted a nice anti-semetic slur and gave him the finger, that made me feel better. At first I thought he didn't see me but with my helmet cateye el-400 blinker and my 11+16 watt beams going, along with all my neon orange gear, he had to have seen me.

Did he call you anti-Asian slurs or something while passing you? Why not go with the more generic "FU" stuff? No need for race to come into it.

Anyhow, I saw exactly one other cyclist today, an old dude in a yellow rain slicker, no less. A few joggers (all women, does that mean something?). For the most part, the Greenway was MINE. It reminded me of when my better half and I go running in January at night.

Oh I let it fly when someone damn near runs me over, what can I say, I'm an ass when people try to kill me. (But let's not let everyone else derail this topic..)

I do enjoy the relative solitude. It's one of the reasons I like to bike in winter, too.

I'm pretty sure it was you who derailed the topic.

I didn't see anyone that was commuting today. Just messengers and food delivery guys. I got into a fight with a cabbie that deliberately tried f*ck with me 4 or 5 times. So I pounded on his window and when he tried to get out I slammed his own door on him.

I refrained from any ethnic or nationalistic slurs. But I have to say that sometimes when you are really mad stupid stuff slips out.

On the other hand the image of a chinese dude using an anti-semitic slur towards a jewish dude is so NYC it brings a tear to my eye

Really anytime someone almost kills you and you don't try to kill them in return... they are getting of very lightly, even if you end up being a prick.

So to all of the NYC Drivers. I send this picture.

My sentiments exactly. And really, I'm not a racist, I hate everyone equally.

What I don't understand are these morons who think they can drive their car on a wet day like this and they end up literally sliding into the edge of an intersection in a 3 ton vehicle w/o abs or anything.
