I have narrowed my new bike choices down to these in this post and ask for your opinions.

Surly LHT - easy to fix/replace if you happen to snap it in two. I'd also recommend some really strong wheels [at least 36H] and 700 x 28C tires or wider.

That recumbent looks pretty sweet, the ranger one. If you have the bucks, that would be a blast to ride.
