have to admit i do too, but not so much for the social factor. it's just irritatingly inefficient to run a multi-person project when the right hand sitteth not where the left hand sitteth. if it weren't for cubes i'd never know what the heck was going on.

i dunno though about 'social slacking'. you have to be an extrovert to think like that. for us more normal introvert types, the very concept is an oxymoron.

I have a job where the actual work may dry up by lunchtime some days. Leaves me with 4 hours to surf the net. Of course, the next day I will get work that needed to be done two days ago. Somewhere in there, I have an awful lot of time to spend on bikeforums and ebay. As an added bonus, I was given a nice big corner office, with a glass front (and a remote control A/C unit :) ). My desk is situated so you have to come in and stand behind me to see my computer screen. No one creeping up and peeking over my shoulder. It's all good.
