Ack! Bell Metro helmet help

Can somebody with a Bell Metro helmet please post a pic of the strap lacing? I took mine off to wash 'em tonight because they were deeply nasty. And err... now I can't figure out exactly how they were laced.

There's one long and one short, and I know the long one goes through the back wheel-adjusted strap...somehow...It's not a commute-killer cause I have a backup helmet, but it'd sure be nice to get this one going again. Thanks!!!

Well, I don't have either my digital camera or cell phone with me, but I do have my Bell Metro helmet here, so let me try to do it verbally.

I have the helmet upside-down in my lap, the front is next to my stomach, the wheel adjust is away from me.

The long one is on the left, the short is on the right.

It's all about the long strap, so we start with that. I will try to refer to the inside/outside of the strap in relation to its original side where it comes out of the helmet at the start. The outside is next to the helmet. I will always refer to that as outside.

1) Up to the strap clamp and through the center. In where the back of the strap clamp is pointed, out where it says "Duraflex". The outside is next to the duraflex label. Loop the strap through the female chin latch. Put the outside of the strap through the top of the female chin latch. The female chin latch is curved slightly. This should curve inward around the head. Thread the strap back through the strap clamp, next to the side that says Bell. The outside of the strap should touch itself going through the strap clamp.

2) Head to the wheel adjust. Look at the big triangular holes on the wheel adjust. Put the strap through above the plastic side strap. Put the long strap through with the outside facing up towards you. Now go down to the base of the wheel adjust. There are slot either side of the bottom of the wheel adjust. The outside of the long strap goes through the bottom of the slot and next to the helmet. It continues through the bottom of the slot on the right side. Then it goes up, with the outside of the strap on top and back through the large triangle, over the plastic side strap of course.

3) Now to the right side strap clamp. Grab both long and short straps. Put the outside of the two straps together. Slide them through the right strap clamp. The long strap is next to the Bell logo.

4)Now slide them through the small plastic oval loop.

5) The male chin latch has a bevel on the back side of it. Insert the two straps through the side that has the shorter end of the bevel. Insert them through the hole next to the latching tangs. Run the two straps back through the other hole next to the beveled end of the chin latch. They come out next to the shorter end of the bevel.

That should be it, the rest is adjustment and the folding of the straps should tell you where to tack everything down.

Hope this helps.

I read this tip some where a while back,WW2 pilots used to spray their gear with a 50/50 mixture of alcohol and water, you can go forever with out washing it that way.I never wash the material inside my lid I just give it a spray..I also keep a spritz bottle in my locker and give all my gear a quick spray after I get to work. That way my bike clothes don't offend anyone hanging on the coat rack--JJ
