Giant: Cypress or Sedona?

Hey guys, I'm fairly new to cycing, and I wanted to get a bike recently due to the rising gas prices, and since pretty much everywhere in Stillwater, OK can be reached by bike. I spent a couple hours down at the local bike shop asking hundreds of questions and riding just about every model they had in stock, and I ended up liking the Giant Cypress and Sedona the best. My question is, their about the same price, so what do you guys think of them? Pros and Cons? Which should I invest in? Thanks in advance!

Two guys that work with me had the same questions last year. At the end ot the day they both brought the Cypress DX as it went a bit faster than the Sedona. They like them as commuting bikes and general transportation.

I have a Sedona,my Dad rides a Cypress. I'd go with the Cypress. I bought the Sedona for use in bad weather, and the fat tires coupled with the bike's weight makes for slow rolling. It's strictly a rain/snow bike for me.

Actually,if it were going to be my only bike,I'd look at something else. Both Giants are too heavy. I'd go with a Kona Dew series or Trek 7xxx series.

The Cypress is the one I would give preference to between the two if I were buying today.

I ride a Sedona DX, but unless you are exceptionally large, or might be riding off road, I would suggest the Cypress.

Although, after saying that, my next new bike will probably be to build up a Surly Long Haul Trucker with some low to mid-range components...

If you look at other bikes, you may be able to get slightly better components and a lighter bike for the same price by getting one without the suspension.
