26 tire vs 28

Is there much difference in commute safety/comfort between 26s and 28s on a road bike? There's no snow or ice here, just occasional rain. My commute is all paved.

If they are different brands/model, there is no way to tell by size alone which will be 'better'. In fact a 26 of one brand could be larger than a 28 of another.

If they are the same brand/model the difference will be very subtle, with the 26 being a very tiny bit quicker feeling and just as safe.

Thanks! Then if I upgrade, it will be for features and not for size.

Tough puncture resistant tyres often have very stiff sidewalls and these work better in larger sizes.
What kind of brake/fender clearance do you need?
