Cyclist killed during NYC transit strike?
 

Did anyone else hear about this? I was watching NY1 today and their transit reporter was interviewing another journalist who briefly mentioned that a NYC firefighter was killed during the strike while commuting to work on his bicycle.

A quick search of NYT.com gave me this article. It seems the firefighter was an experienced cyclist, and was cut off by a chartered bus (which was shuttling workers because of the strike, ironically) that was making an improper turn. It's sad, but sadly not surprising, that this story has not been more widely reported.

I thought this was discussed in the Strike thread. He's not dead... yet..

Ah, that's good to hear. I haven't waded through the strike thread yet, it's too long ;)
