I've been thinking of setting up some moustache bars with Guidonnet levers and barcons. Not sure if it will work, but from this photo, it looks like they might work.

Has anybody tried these as an alternative to the moustache bars? The ad says they're 3TTT, but I can' find them on the 3TTT website. They look like a cross between moustache bars and drop bars, and look very cool. I'd like to find some-- does anybody know anything about them?

The pictures aren't much to go on in that ad, but I'm guessing those are the 3TTT "Trial Piana" bars. The ones I have don't have much drop at all, don't have anywhere near the amount of forward swoop that moustache bars do, and have a much longer flatter section where they end. I had them on my fixed mtb for a while, but that bike is happier with riser bars.

I like those reverse levers. Are they Dia Compes? I have them on a flat bar on my ss mtb, but I just don't like flat bars. I think I'm going to try some Nitto Dove bars. http://www.rivbike.com/webalog/handl...ape/16123.html I like the way they angle in at the ends. I like the price, too. It's a riser bar, but I've seen it turned upside down and taped and it looks pretty good.

Yeah, those are cheapo dia-compe levers. They're much happier pulling sidepulls on the track bike than they were pulling cantis on that mtb.

I had a pair of doves for a while. They're nice enough grocery-getter bars, but I traded them away pretty happily when an opportunity arose.

For cantis and v-brakes, I find it's pretty hard to beat good ol' mtb levers.

I'm riding on-one midge bars ( http://www.on-one.co.uk/index.php?mo...N_position=7:7 ) on my fixie commuter and I can't say enough good things about them. I rode a 200K on them and never ran out of positions. Unlike moustache bars (and more like road drops) the midge has a pretty wide, straight top tube. The drops are really shallow and flared. They are perfect. I'd say I ride in the drops about 80% of the time. I have an inline cross brake lever on one side because I only run a front brake, but I've seen these bars set up with aero levers and they seem to look pretty good.

On-One also has the Mungo bar which is also somewhere between a moustache and a drop. Probably worth checking out.

The Dia Compe reverse levers seem to have a bit too much mechanical advantage for cantis. The levers will bottom out on the bars if you don't have the shoes really close to the rims. That's okay as long as your rims are true. I like the reverse levers because I can grip anywhere on the bar.

I've looked at the On One bars. They've come up with some unique designs. I think that the "Mary" bar might work for me. Too bad they're black only and overpriced.

the reverse lever trick also works well on bullhorns when using road brakes, but that is a nice look you got there jim-bob :)

since using aero brakes was mentioned on moustache bars (i'm not sure if what I'm about to say has been said... forgive me as I"m a bit loopy from 2 hours of sleep :P), I had the same setup on my 'stache bars with nashbar aero levers. The best way to get them routed was to install the right lever on the left side, and left lever on the right side, so the cable routes through to bottom of the bartape.

What if you put aero bars on the moustache bars? It would look like a frakenstien handlebar setup, but if your not too worried about that you could have the moustache bars for the climbs and the aero bars for a change up, flats and downhills. You would have to have moustache bars with a long enough straight section, and the aero bars might be too close up if you have a shorter stem because of the moustache bars.

I have a long commute, and I need an upright position for about the quarter of it goes through an urban setting and requires an upright position, but aero bars to help me get there would be great.

No. But I bought these from Harris Cyclery. Almost the single most expensive component of my commuter (including the bike itself). I've been very happy with them.
