Got an oxygen mask to go with that, Lord Vader? ;)

I use a simple cheap Bell Citi in the winter, a ball cap in the summer.

Giro Pneumo...

tokolosh 01-10-06 11:37 PM

same helmet as summer, with a toque or a balaclava underneath it.

same helmet, but with duct tape on the inside to cover up the vent holes.
and a baclava underneath if it's cold, a cheap plastic shower cap, in addition, if
it's raining

I wear an Army pot with liner & goggles. :o .

Bell Citi, same as summer, I just leave my rain cover on to cut down on the breeze. If it's < 32, I use a poly tube thingie from Nashbar pulled up over the back of my head. If it's < 20, I use a PSolarX HX balaclava (which is poly on top, polartec fleece on the bottom).

Last year I just duct taped the holes, and it was fine. But when ordering my rain gear last summer, I tossed in the rain cover for $10 and have been using that. It's yellow with reflective gunk so that's nice.

If it's < either of those, I've gotten seriously lost. We don't do those temps in Northern California!

From -30C to +30C I use a $35 dollar Bell Ukon II. At around zero celcius I add a thin balaclava and once it hits -15C or so is use a thicker one. My head has never been cold or baked so it works for me.

I have the Bell Metro also... Just have a Blackburn Mars (tail light) on the back strap.

Super Geek,
Do you have a Head light on your handle bars as well as on your helmet?

d2create 01-11-06 08:21 AM

34 this morning and I was fine with my doo-rag pulled down over my ears under my year round Bell Metro helmet. I will usually use a thin beanie instead of the doo rag but i couldn't find my favorite beanie this morning.

in the winter i use a cheapo bmx helmet. some online place always has one for around 10 bucks.

i save my fancy-pants helmet for when it is warm enough to appreciate the extra ventilation.

Bell Sweep over a Performance helmet liner beanie.

Geek, 3 questions:
1. Does your helmet have the mount for your taillight? If not, how did you mount it?

2. Do you keep the battery attached to the helmet when you ride, or do you put it in a pocket?

3. That looks like a NR HID, is that correct? If so, does it have a fuel guage, and does it ever go on the fritz? (My NR DE Halogen is worthless, but I'm thinking of going to a helmet system rather than my handlebar/basket system.)

You lookin' at me? :D

Hmmm, I don't do anything to my helmet (Bell Ghisallo) in the winter. I have a balaclava which I've worn a couple of times when temps are in the teens but for the most part I stick to a hooded jersey with maybe my officially licensed Discovery Channel euro-style cycling cap over the hood, with the helmet on top of it all.

1. Yes the Metro has a taillight mount, how to mount the NiteRider Taillight is you need to take the mount off, put the taillight mount on, with a bolt (to stop it from sliding out) then put the mount back on.

2. I keep it on my helmet, it's attached to the back, on the Metro Fit Dial(For the lack of better words). I do this so I don't have any 'power' running from my helmet to me, just in case (knock on wood) The EMT's need to take off my helmet, they can do so easy.

3. Yes it is, it's a NiteRider Flight HID/LED. Yes it does have a fuel guage. No, this one has not, My NiteRider Digital Evolution did have some problems, my bike store did some tests, and 'fixed it' kind of. How I fixed it was getting a different charger, now I have no more problems.
