Have not tried one, but the concept is pretty good.

I don't have the cash to buy an HID to use on only one bike. Because the mount is part of the stem it is not interchangeable. If I only had one bike I might get it. I do like the compact setup.

I'm curious to see what this looks like when it's been attached to the bike. Anyone have any customer shots of how this works?

I bet they won't sell many. Most people have got the stem they like already on their bike. Also the one bike only problem mentioned. I need to switch my light to other bikes.
Having the battery on the stem does not help the handling. Not great for locking up the bike either, a pain to take off, but it can be stolen.
I don't see any advantage other than a full suspension bike that has no place for a battery on the frame. That's a small market for special tooling and meeting a price point.

I like the idea, but I don't like the execution. It looks really clunky.

I like the concept. In the spirit of true geekness I would cut off the back two thirds of the stem part leaving only the part that clamps onto the handlebar and holds the light and battery. Then I could put it whereever on the handlebars I wanted it. The light battery is good. Buy and charge several for long night rides. Someone in RAAM may try that.

It would be cool if they could figure out a way to put the battery inside the stem which would conserve weight and drag.

Nice Idea,
but often times nice Ideas are not that practical. I would never purchase it as your stuck with the stem
and most folks have stems they like. another thing is sevice if your light needs help you need a new stem.
also the setup does not look like its too adjustable.
Now take that idea and make it somwhat universal to most stems (attach to the front plate) and then it would be a nice fit.

The stem is too short, the lamp housing is too big, the battery is too small and the light is in a poor location, on the bars.

This is not really aimed at the commuter. It is intended for the 24 hour racer with everything. 2.5 hours of battery life means that you are good for 2-5 laps of any 24hr course that I have ridden. Although I much prefer a helmet light for that sort of thing.
Looks pretty though.

My ideal light would have a battery that straps onto the frame and two lamps that clamp onto either side of the stem under the handle bar with clearance for the cables.
That way you have two lights for redundancy and its protected in a crash plus you can see shadows better with it slightly lower.

It's pretty hard to hit lights on the underside of the bars next to the stem in a crash too. As long as they are over the top tube. A frame mounted battery is a good choice in a crash too. If it's strapped on to the frame it can slide or move if it gets hit, and it's in a somewhat protected place.

You're right! There has to be something to upgrade and discuss on bike forums.
