On Christmas Day, we were packing our minivan with presents for a 3 nt. family trip/visit to our relatives in the Detroit area. Had the back door/hatch open. Everything was packed, but before I got everyone in I thought I'd move the van out of the garage to make room for our sedan. Our garage isn't very big, with our bikes and all ;o)). Kids were outside watching, with the dog, but they were oblivious as to what I was going to do. I put it in reverse and backed up. All was clear, or so I thought. The rear door wiper assembly was stopped by the bottom of the garage door and pushed itself through the glass. It broke into a thousand pieces!
There. Now you have a compadre in stupid car tricks! My sympathies!!! |

Bike actually turned out ok! Once everything was taken off then put back on straight the only thing that was truly messed up were the shifters, and that is purely cosmetic! So, I actually got REALLY lucky. Got to love that bike to take a hit like that...

no carbon frames for you?

Not right now!!! I am hoping to get another one when the wife graduates again. I am putting her through school and she is going to get me another Madone when she graduates from Medical School.

Drove into my girlfriend's (now wife) covered parking at her old apt. Luckily no one was around to laugh.....or see my tears after ruining my towers... but at least my bike was fine

One way of avoiding driving into your own garage with a bike on the roofrack is to fill up your garage with other bikes. Then you will have no place to park your car inside. Problem solved. :D

At the risk of drawing ILTB's incessant wrath, dump the car. j/k
You could do what I have, let your sister in-law move in with her boyfriend and 2 kids. Then they put all their junk in the garage and you have to use the driveway. Sorry if I sound bitter. :p |
Rule #1: Bike on car, garage door opener goes in the trunk.
