The only issue I am having with it is that I seem to keep having to readjust the chain. That may be just because it's new and is breaking in, or maybe its just normal for a fixie ? In any case I went and got some cheap bmx chain adjusters for it last night, maybe that will cure the problem. http://www.redlinebicycles.com/adult...ges/925-LG.jpg |
Mine did not come with chain adjusters. None of the 925's that my bike shop got in had them. But your right, the picture of the 925 on Redlines website sure does look like it has chain adjusters on it. Not a real big deal, the bmx style ones were only $2.50. If I wasn't so cheap I would buy a surley chain tensioner, looks cool but is 26 bucks for one. I suppose only the drive side needs one, but still...... 26 bucks.
I think I have fixed gear fever. I am already eyeing my Cannondale road bike and thinking of making it into a fixie. I am also thinking about getting a Redline monocog and converting it to a fixed gear. There are really no big hills where I ride, so I don't see the purpose of having all those gears anymore. I did come across an article about converting old bendix kickback 2 speeds into fixed gear hubs, now that would be cool, a two speed fixie. |

as for the redline; your toes have to clear the front tire AND the fenders. so in smaller size frames, YUP your probably gonna have to learn to live with that. my girlfriend rides a 56 or 58m crosscheck and has the same issue with the fenders. we trimmed the little metal adjusters (the rods that extend from the fork to the fenders) down as that as what was hitting her foot. i have no problems on my 60cm frame. |

Sorry if this sounds ignorant, but how does a two speed fixie work? |
Has anyone with a 925 experienced your foot hitting the front tire on slow sharp turns?

Had my LBS put a 925 on the next order in...
Can't wait. Been thinking about SS and Fixed for awhile. Want to use it for a town commuter... and with my topography (Vermont) I should get a good workout. Thinking of putting the Brooks Team Pro from my Trek 520 on it. Would definitely get some matching bar tape. Are those moustache bars similar to the Nitto's or Rivendell's? They look flatter, more like the Performance. I think I like the Nitto's better. Might have to swap those out. I'm 5'9" and ride a very comfortable 55 LeMond. Ordered the 54 925... wondering if this was the right size to get. Frame geometry seems close. |
