Calgary Commuters... Wave at me!

So on my commute in today I passed about 5 or 6 commuters, only one waved at me - after I waved of course. It wasn't even cold today, one even gave me a really dirty look!

My commute starts in the NW, I take bowness road to memorial, then ride the paths to the zoo, then I take the paths by deerfoot to the walking bridge by 16th ave, and I work right on sunridge way.

If you see me wave! I'll be on a flat black road bike with a yellow fork. I wear glasses too.

I'll wave back, I promis! Or I'll say 'hi', or 'goodmorning'

It would be cool is you could do something so I knew you were on bike forums, I don't know what though.

Marc,

I do that same commute, but I stop downtown. I didn't get passed today, though, so I likely didn't see you. If I do ever see you I'll shout "Hi Marc!!!".

I ride a black road bike with bright green bar-tape, and I wear a fluorescent green MEC jacket.

I pass this joker in full "Tamarac" kit almost every day and I used to always wave at him. He would not even give me the satisfaction of looking my way. And its not like he was in full workout (if so, he is very slow) at any time. I do see some commuters who seem like they might fall over if they look up for a moment, though.

I wear my team kit from time to time on the commute but I always wave or at least nod as I feel I need to represent a good face for the team. Lately, I have been blown off by the migrant workers on their roadmasters as well. I guess there is just no love out there anymore. I blame it all on Tamarac boy. What a loser, he started this whole thing.

are you a "wrong way" or "sidewalk" or "no helmet" cyclist? If you are any of those many would not wave.

Don't mean to derail this thread, but if you were talking to me the answer is no to all of the above. I am a right-way riding (despite the sig.), never sidewalk riding, mostly white line riding, helmet wearing, lights having, sexy arm/leg warmer/yellow glasses wearing, committed and experienced commuter.

I don't understand the unwillingness to wave to someone who is obviously waving to you (especially someone who passes you and waves every single day). And I don't think it is a "kit" thing. I get lots of waves from the teams going by (my team often waves as well).
