I commuted through four winters from Wheat Ridge to the Denver Federal Center. I faced the worst days by knowing that one, I did not have a car and two that the bus was even colder and took longer. You might try driving to work with the bike in the car. Going home in the warmer afternoon would be easier. Then the next AM you would HAVE to ride; thus you would not even start to think of why not. Consider thinking of somewhere sunny and warm. On the coldest days I would lay out all my layers and gear the day before then dress, eat, and jump on the bike before I could procrastinate. If I had had a car bloody sure I would have ridden the day it hit -5F. Below 20F it was not fun. Just below freezing it was the most dangerous and I allowed extra time, walking across the worst spots. Good Luck and persevere.
