montare vs. dr. dew

getting back into cycling after a long hiatus. i am choosing between a gary fisher montare or a kona dr. dew. i am a heavy rider,( 5ft. 6in. 235) this will be my commute bike and my weekend rides in NYC central park. any suggestions on the two. BTW, they are both 06' models.

Hey nyscolt. I'm about your height and used to be your weight (and even heavier). The Gary Fisher looks to have better components, but that won't mean much if you're not comfortable. Try riding both bikes to see which one is most comfortable to you and make sure the LBS does a fitting so the bike will be setup correctly out the door. My LBS has a Serotta fitting machine so if yours has something familiar, see if they'll throw in a fitting for free w/ the purchase of a bike. Good luck and see you in Central Park!
