my 1st video with the helmet cam. It's part of the commute home on the downhill side of Sepulveda Blvd. Not nearly as clear as the orginal due to compression.

Man you where keeping up with the cars very nicely. I think I would not like the tunnel very much but would do it any ways.

That is some raggedy-ass pavement sir. You have two big brass ones to negotiate that tunnel.

I am impressed with a number of things: that is terrific quality for the cam. I'd like to know what brand it is as well. I want one. You sure manage to keep reasonable pace with the cars as well, very nice riding. The route looks pleasant enough but that tunnel looks scary and the narrow shoulders are almost as bad.

I agree with the observations above: that right lane with has had the surface removed looks treacherous nyet you handled it very well. I could feel the jarring vibrations all the way over here though.

After the tunnel, it looks like they used one of those road surface grinders on the right side of the road and haven't got around to the repaving part yet. I hate riding even slow on those. You seem to handle them well at high speed.

That pavement does look miserable! I hate the seam that runs parallel to the lane that those repaving situations create.

Also, I would be afraid to ride so fast that close to the edge of the road. I don't mean to start a "how-far-to-the-right-should-one-ride" debate; I'm just making a personal observation.

Anyway, good video. I'd be interested to know how it was made.

The helmet cam is a sony thats sold in england, I choose it because it has interchangable lenses that are reasonably priced. I'll post a short clip at high quality. I use it with a Sony TRV38, with that and the battery pack to power the helmet cam it's pretty heavy. I'm looking for a lighter solution for recording, maybe the new attachment for the ipod.

Thanks for the kind words. The street was in the process of repaving. It's nice and smooth now, used to feel more like an offroad run. The tunnel has a high pucker factor on that side, the other side is 2 lane but maybe even more threatening because of the rapid lane changes. I ride that direction early in the morning so it's nice and empty.

What is your speed typically? Looks quite fast.
If you add a lens hood (homemade) you may be able to reduce/eliminate the flare that muddies/fogs up the view.

It's a downhill, speed on that section 32-35 on the hill leading to the tunnel 8-11. On the commute going the other way I can hit 42 if theres no wind.

Sweeet. I would like to get a setup like that except not quite that heavy or bulky.

Me 2! That's why I've been looking into DVR like the video ipod attachment or atheros. I've used this setup on the motorcycle with the camcorder inside a shockabsorbing case that adds more weight, not as big a deal on a motorbike. Protection is not as big a deal on the bike.
