How do you start the day at work?
With Coffee! when i arrive, i turn on the machine and wait to fill up my mug.
Sometimes i think about my morning coffee on my bike.....is this some form of addiction? :D |
I usually start my day at work begrudgingly , then I make the coffee and have some, then some more.
|
Ride in, usually with a late start. That late start has me riding by the starbucks drooling, but alas no time to stop. The free coffee at work will have to do.
Shower, eat some breakfast, drink the free coffee and browse BF, CNN, and my email for a bit. Once I am awake, I start my day. |
:) I start my day by drinking a Met-rx shake, Then ride to work Thats were I down 2 Large cups of java it taste so good.
|
I make my coffee at home and put it in my vacuum bottle, which fits one of my bottle cages. It's ready to drink as soon as I get to work an hour later. If it's a hot day when I'll need two bottles of water for the afternoon ride home, I fill the vacuum bottle with cold springwater from the cooler and save it for the last 20 minutes of the ride. Hard to beat ice-cold water late in a ride!

Oh yeah,
the old Nissan stainless vacuum bottle in the bottle cage - a perfect fit! I get in to the office, stop and admire my bike for a minute, shed the helmet & gloves and pour a cup of home-brewed Peet's coffee. Almost makes me glad to get to work! |
the old Nissan stainless vacuum bottle in the bottle cage - a perfect fit! I start early in the morning with freshly ground and brewed dark french roast, black.:) At about 45 minutes into my commute I travel down some quiet residential streets, sit up, watch the sunrise and enjoy my hot coffee for the last mile to work. :) This is the best part of my ride. Well... i'm only 16 and its kind of degrading because I work at a malt shop. However, the short but sweet ride is usually chilly around this time -0degrees with 20mph windchill common. I park my bike in the main hallway and I head for the coffee pot, ocassionaly getting comments about riding my bike to work.

start my morning with a protein shake stop a couple blocks from work grab a latte, some kind of baked good and some good juice (naked and odwalla are my favorites) and a banana of course.

Power on the computer, check for critical e-mails,voice mail, system problems etc. Very quick look at the BBC web-site. Then off to the canteen for a bowl of cereal and a coffee, which I then eat while browsing BF.
|
Shower then a coffee, and browse BF while drinking it.
|
Ride to work, change into normal clothes, eat breakfast while checking bike forums. Sit back and reflect on how good it feels to get an 18 mile ride in before work.
|
Up and out of bed, brush my teeth, throw on clothes, pet the dogs and grab the bike, head out the door and ride to work, by the way am I the only here that doesnt drink coffee? get to work, take a shower and get in the shop 5 minutes late. Wait for 2 hours until I get to eat something.

When I am on day shift, I am jealous because that is the shift I can't ride into work.. Feel cheated for half the morning. To get to work by 6 am, I would have to leave at 3 am to get showered at work and get ready for shift.. Usually when driving into work- I feel more rushed and uptight, fighting with traffic.
When on PM shift, I leave at 3 pm. Not fighting the awful afternoon traffic, as compared to driving in- I am more relaxed. Have more time. I reward myself and co-shift worker, with a chocolate croissant to be consumed at 8 pm, when we make coffee.. When I start shift at 6 pm- I have my power shake, shower and feel great and alive for work.. Sometime during my break at 8, I get a chance to quickly check in with Bike Forums.. Ride home the next morining and really ready for some well deserved sleep.. Ride time- little under 2 hours..each way. |
by the way am I the only here that doesnt drink coffee? after arriving and having changed, i come into the office and turn on the computer power to boot up and hang my cycling clothes in the mean time. then unless there's something critical i read my emails (work and personal) for the first half hour or so. i usually don't get a chance to look at BF until around lunch or in the afternoon. |
I change out of the riding gear, while the java is brewing. And Devster I've got 30 years on you doing 20 mile round trip, and add miles just for the yucks. I just brush the south east tip of Wayzata on some of those added mile days. I have a century mapped out that circles Wayzata. Was going to ride it today, but the -6F kept me inside, and I watched "The Bicycle Thief."

dont you guys do any work:D were expected to start work strait away . mind you what they expect & what they get are two differant things:fight:
|
I work at home so I wake up and I'm at work already:D
I crawl downstairs like a sloth. Bang the PC on ( one web browser on the kitchen table) make a cup of tea ( well I am British old chap!) and settle down to see what you guys have been up to. You see BF comes first.:) Only problem is I have less motivation/need to get the miles in. Anyone else work at home ? |
Part of my early morning routine is to go to the garage and let my 4 dawgs out. When I open the door, I find them literally wrapped around the kerosene heater I have for them. Then they each get their morning biscuit (the counterpart of my first cup of coffee) and their day starts before sunrise.
|
Ah so your life revolves around you're dawgs as mine does around my cat!
The've got us right where they want us I guess:D |

I wake up, fall out of bed, drag a comb across my head. Find my way downstairs and drink a cup, looking up I notice I am late.
Find my coat and grab my hat, make the bus in seconds flat. Find my way upstairs and have a smoke, somebody speaks and I go into a dream. No hang on - that's not me, that's the Beatles. I ride to work, check emails, shower, coffee - set fot the day. |
