Wool users...can we get a few raves about why the wool jerseys are better than wickng poly?

Sorry to be your first reply, but back in the days of wool jerseys, I always found them scratchy, hot and uncomfortable, unlike the shorts of the day.

On the other hand, I find wicking poly quite comfortable to wear.

gets a little less stinky (as a general rule).
more attractive designs
don't get pilly and gross looking with washing
don't need to be washed as often (see #1)
often very affordable used

It's mainly the cool/grouchy factor though.

Today's wool is not scratchy at all. It's warm in winter, whether it's wet or dry. Mind you I have not tried wool bike jerseys on a really hot summer day. Any recommendations?

Wool jerseys

Try Swobo. They are back on the market and make a soft and washable wool jersey as well as a Lycra jersey in black that is cool and retro.

Some users always wear wool and only say "Bah!" when you mention anything about wicking poly.

Wool's just great stuff. I only wear Smart Wools socks now (got a bunch at REI's scratch and dent sale!) and wool base layer shirts are very comfortable on the hottest days. I don't have a jersey-cut wool shirt, but I have several wool t-shirts that are great. Ibis are nice, but a bit pricey. Wicks better, stinks less, stays comfortable year 'round.

It doesnt dry by the end of a work day for me if it gets wet unless i have a fan on it all day.

Smell, i only wear clean gear to commute in, so its not a problem. Now if your touring.........

Best advantage I see for wool over poly in summer for commuting is the temp difference between morning and evening commute. Wool will give you a much wider range of comfort temp wise.
