San Mateo into San Fran's Moscone Center, Route Suggestions?
 

I'm gonna be attending a conference in San Francisco in about a month and staying with my brother in San Mateo.

I'm looking to bike commute into the conference each day because 1) it would be fun and 2) I'd like to demonstrate to my brother that it's not that tough to do.

My question is: Is there a good bike route to head up to San Fran from all points south? There appears to be a bike path that runs along the bay but I can't tell if this is an awesome car-free bike commuter's dream or a winding recreational dog-walker nightmare into killer headwinds off the bay.

Any info from locals about how they commute into the city from San Mateo, San Bruno, Foster City, etc would be AWESOME. Or if they live in the city and commute down to Palo Alto or other silicon valley jobs, that'd work too.
