Can't help unless you want to drive another couple hours North to Olympia where you could visit the Bike Stand, downtown at 4th & Adams, they have Brooks plus a great selection of bikes & bike gear.

Could start with www.bikegallery.com or www.rivercitybicycles.com. I dont know if they carry brooks saddles though.

I should get a brooks. Considering like all my clothes and everything else for that matter are some level of biodegradable, it's kind of amazing that my bike and just about everything that touches it are based on some kind of polymer or other. I love that one bike at the Bike Stand, either a demo or just the owner's, w/ the leather mudflaps.

Giles Berthoud flaps, they sell those and also the Stainless Steel fenders. How about that blue & red Carlton hanging in the corner? Cory Thompson restored it...belonged to his father & it has a Brooks. Don

As Pityr mentioned, River City Bicycles stocks Brooks saddles, but they only have a few at hand and may not have a B-17 when you get there. You may want to call ahead to find out what they have. I never saw any Brooks saddles at the 3 Bike Gallery locations I have been to. One other Portland store where I seem to remember seeing Brooks saddles (and Carradice bags, among other accessories) is Citybikes Workers' Cooperative, which is small but worth a visit.

thanks for the tips...i'll definitely check out citybikes..sounds like a neat place

i'm from long beach and the bike stores here are mostly loaded with cruisers and nothing too practical for commuting/touring...

Citybikes is awesome. If you are the used parts bin-digging type you will love it. I found a super cool old-style wool winter cap* when I was there after STP. If you do the track/singlespeed/fixed thing Veloshop downtown is worth a stop - no Brooks though as it's a vegan joint.

*Yes it will be worn under my helmet.

You might want to call Stompbox Music in Portland. I got my B17 on ebay from them (seller: proguitarshop).
