Carradice Barley
 

Thinking about getting one because I like the idea of not having to get a rack for it. Only thing is, I'd like to be able to carry it around with me and from the pics I've seen it doesn't seem to have any handles. Can I just attach a shoulder strap to those straps on top of the bag? Anybody have any other solutions?

1. Buy the bag and some nylon webbing at your neighborhood camping shop, and

2. have your friendly neighborhood seamstress/drycleaner stitch a simple handle to the top flap with some nylon webbing (fold and stitch the center to make a handle part, bar tack the ends to the bag, OR

3. Make a handle that can pass between the seat straps using the same nylon webbing material.

Do you know anywhere online that sells Carradice? Wallbike has listings but they all say "sold out".

supposedly, St. John's Cycles in England carries them for cheap(ish). i don't know about their stock, but i've seen several posters on here say they got theirs from them: sjscycles.co.uk/

Thanks for the link humbug. I've been considering a Carradice Barley and my wife's been asking what I want for my b'day so....

i bought a carradice barley from calhouncycle.com a while back. it was around $75 and shipment was very fast.

First of all, go for the Carradice. They're great bags: very water resistant, very classy, and very easy to use. The worst part is that they use saddlebag loops and are hard to get off quickly. Carradice makes a quick-release rack called the Bagman that helps this problem. I've got the Super C on my commuter and it is HUGE. But great for carrying groceries or my laptop and clothes.

Wallbike is the first place to check, looks like they have them listed. If not, Peter White Cycles or Tullio's Big Dog Cycling should have them.

I just ordered a green Barely from Wallbike. If I am not mistaken only the Black Barely is out of stock.

Peter White has a big selection. I have a Nelson long flap in green and tan and am considering a camper in green and tan for winter's bulky clothes.

okay, so i just got my barley in the mail today (pretty amazing, considering i'm in l.a. and just placed the order last thursday--i don't even get some domestic shipments that fast!)

looks cool and all, but what gives with the mounting instructions? there's one set for how to mount the sqr bracket to your seatpost, but nothing on how to actually connect the bag itself to the quick release. maybe it's self-explanatory and i'm just stupid, but for the life of me i cannot figure it out. anyone know of a site with step-by-step instructions for a self-professed idiot?
