GT Cirque Hybrid?

Hi... I saw an ad for a GT Cirque hybrid that I'm thinking of using for a 11 mile (one way) commute. I can't find any information about it anywhere, so I'm not sure if it would be an appropriate choice for me. I've never commuted before, and the route I'll be taking is a little hilly (which I'm terrified of.) I'm 5'7" and 215 lbs., so I guess I fall into the Clydesdale category. I'm hoping that doing the commute will get me out of it!

Does anyone know anything about these bikes, or have a different recommendation? My budget is around $400, so I'm probably have to get a used bike, right?

I've learned so much from the posts that I've read. Thanks, everyone!

I don't know too much about the GIant, but I was recently in the market for a similar bike for a new 10-mile r/t commute. I checked out the Trek FX line up. The 7.3 FX came closest in my mind to balncing performance/compenents with price. I've even seen one on this board for under $400. It is very sturdy and the shifters are spectacular, esp at that price point.

I uiltimately chose to go with the Specialized Sirrus Sport. It was way more than my budget, but the light weight, responsiveness, comfort and crisp handling were, at the end of the day, too much for me to resist, so I made the sacrifice. And, my body thanks me on every long ride or steep incline I decide to take on my way to/from work.

Hope this helps. And, good luck.
