Something good to tell...
Was having a nice ride today. The temperature was not as brutal of recently. I had good energy and was really moving on the bike. Passed 8 SS/FG 6 guys and 2 gals cyclists going the other way. I gave them a comical salute as I passed. Made a couple of laps around the park until it started to get dark so I left on the road going back to where I live when I came up on a patch of glass. I swerved to avoid but it was too late my rear tire went psssssssst. Yes the tube was punctured. I was flat and out of commission.
Did I have a patch kit? No. Did I have a spare tube? No. The bicycle shop nearby was closed. So I had no choice but to start pushing my bike back to where I live, some 4 miles away. After I had pushed about 1 1/2 miles I decided to go a different way back because I was more or less a pedestrian, now. Going up this other way I passed 4 of the SS/FG persons I saw earlier. They smiled and remembered me. I nodded and kept walking as I had 2 1/2 miles to go and was not enjoying pushing my bike.
The the four rode up next to me and asked if they could help. One of the guys had a patch kit and we had the tire repaired in a few minutes. We had a nice conversation and they invited me to a critical mass on Friday. I thanked them and wished them a good evening.
As I rode away from them I was on top of the world again. I rode another 10 miles because I was feeling so good.
And yes, I am going to get a patch kit because next time I may not be so fortunate.
Just thought I'd share this story...

That's a great story - especially from another Atlanta rider.
