Crash!
Exactly one month ago today, I hit a deer with my truck, and hit a telephone pole. Today, I hit a piece of concrete in the road in the exact same spot on my bike. Flatted both tires, and went over the handlebars. What kind of coincidence is that?

Maybe there is a central spot of evil there?
how is the ride? any scrapes? |
Prob'ly the deer put the concrete there as payback. Deers are real bastids like that. My dad hit a deer driving home from work when I was a kid. Eleventeen years later, my dad's leaving the local bar with our neighbor, and the same deer steps out of a dark alley and sucker punches him. No joke.

I am so aggravated, I just jerked the wheels off the bike, threw it on the repair stand, and will fool with it this weekend. I think wheels are out of true, right brifter needs to be taken apart, has dirt jammed all inside, carbon fork has a scrape, but maybe not too bad...I'll ride the slow bike till I fix it up I guess.

Man that sucks. I'll pour you a scotch ... ;)

Maybe that spot is an evil sink. Never heard of that, but has anyone else found any gravity sinks on their commutes. I know of a couple of places that are way harder to climb through than their grades would indicate. I'm not talking about false flats. These are 3-4% grades that feel like 6. Spooky.

Wow! No, not that spooky. Guess I shouldn't complain.

I took a different route home today...5 miles further, but I think I feel a little less of the "There Heeere!" phenomenon!!!
