I rode home last night after a trip around the Greenway. As I left work at 7pm the temperature read 101, so I figured taking a ride along the water would be alot cooler that riding in the streets or the park.

On the east side around 8:30pm I see a rider coming in the opposite direction. He/she's wearing the following: Full face MTX helmet with a light on the top, flourescent orange vest, long sleeve jersey or shirt, pants and gloves.

Now, I admire anyone's dedication to safety, but this was one of the hottest days of the year. They must have literally been stewing under that outfit. :eek:

See any tinfoil? Sounds like someone's been remiss in taking their meds.

Didn't see any tinfoil. But we were just a quick hop away from Bellevue....

It's hard to find good tin foil these days. Aluminum just doesn't provide the same protection but it is lighter. Still the best is a good stainless collander. Worth the weight penalty in my book.

I find plastic wrap to be more effective because, if streched properly, it doesn't allow any breathability whatsoever.

There was a lady (about 50 yrs old) jogging/shuffling on my local bike path this a.m. Pushing 90 degrees and some humidity, and she's wearing black running tights, an old school warmup jacket- like from the early 1990s, headband, and black gloves. WTF?

This time of year people around here seem to find 60F to be jacket weather.
I'm in cycling shorts and a jersey until it drops below the high 40s.

I dunno. The collander is fashionable, but to be really swank I prefer spinner beanies. If not available Medusa inspired styrofoam should have same effect.

Collander is only effective if you install wire clotheshanger antennae. :rolleyes:

and here i thought the aluminum was important for protecting me from the evil rays from the cellphone towers that were brainwashing us all into liking mel gibson and making him our god...

good to know i can get away with the collander! the holes make it nice and cool.


aorund here there is this man woman team that wears these plastic full body suits on really hot days to walk on the MUP. only thing i can think is they are trying to loose all kids of weight by sweating. i am also continually amazed that some homeless people seem to be immune to heat, they wear the craziest winter coats on hot days sometimes.
