<edit> ^^^^ Refers to the thread they're talkin' about.

This is why you always wear an effin' helmet:

Anyone who questions "should I wear a helmet" exmplifies Darwinism at its best.

Hey, I was wearing the helmet! That's why my forehead is clean. The helmet took most of the impact and must have saved me from a head injury, or at least much worse road rash.

I know dude. I'm sayin' you're still alive BECAUSE you wore a helmet. These other jokers who question wearing a helmet...well...here's your sign!

The assertion above doesn't make any sense for obvious reasons. The trauma I see is below the eyebrows. They make a helmet that low? Link, please.

The Righteously Militant Helmet Gang expressed in the last two or three posts comes to a transparently, inescapably chuvinistic conclusion: The rest of the world could not care less about its safety.

Rubbish. (And dangerously close to borderline racist rubbish.)

Show me that more than 2 percent of the world's population thinks it worthwhile to wear helmets, and I'll reconsider.

Any helmet should not be worn more than an inch from an eyebrow. Practically, almost any helmet can be adjusted to any head, but it always better to choose the one that fits better.

I would even not have had my eyebrow lacerated if I worn cycling glasses rather then prescription ones with metal wire frame.

I do not care what others think about helmets. It saved my head twice. My coworker, mountain biker, wasted three of them. I'm going to keep wearing it, because my ambitious are exceeding my skills, and that is not the last time I fell. I'm going to use mirrors, lights, reflectors, bright clothes. Anything that lets me go faster, yet not too dangerous.

It's all personal. If you are riding slowly and carefully, mostly on MUPs or calm streets, chances are you will never need one. My 4-year-old daughter does not need a helmet at all. My 8-year-old son can certainly live without one. My wife'd better worn it at all times. I shlould not ride a mile without.

A well-considered reply. Thanks.
