What about those suicide raccoons?
When I take the MUP early in the morning, rabbits seem to line up at the side of the path, just waiting for me to pass. They usually just sit their like a bunny in the headlights, but you never know when one might make a dash for it. Sometimes I can see a dozen or so at a time.

I had organized squirrels when i first moved into my current home. Initially, they were cute and interesting to watch...but they started making me nervous the day I opened the porch door to find 5 squirrels lined up on the porch watching every move I made. That was 6 years ago...the leader (an oversized blonde squirrel) died or moved on I think about 3 years ago. I've been good friends with my kitty for about 5 1/2 years.
The cat and the squirrels used to play war games, I kid you not. They would send out a scout squirrel as bait to try to draw the cat into range for the dozen or so squirrels hiding in the trees with acorns. The cat would climb the dogwood trees and either bite or knock down all the berries so the squirrels would HAVE to come down to eat. Strange times, I tell ya.

No more problems with squirels leaving food around though.

This year, specifically this past Saturday, my dog killed a squirrel, which I buried in the yard, at which time I severed the very same cable feeder that I repaired and buried last year with my shovel.
Can't wait for next year...

I do prefer the hounds, tho. Have 3, no cats.
