I Upgraded my Rear Blinkie with new LEDs (photos attached)

Hi Everybody, I am a bit of a electronics nut so recently I started playing around with LEDs. I have always build my own bike lights so I decided to order some high-powered red 5mm LEDs (25K mcd) and put them in my generic 5 LED flasher, here are the results:

Here is the new improved version on the right compared to non-upgraded version:

Difficult to Replace LED's? Are the LED's difficult to replace? How can I determine the power of the current LED's in the unit? Thanks for a little guidence.

LED power

5mm LEDs for the most part are all the same voltage and current. Newer ones are just more efficient as far as I know. You should be ok replacing the 5mm red LEDs in a rear flasher with new ones without having to worry about voltage/current difference (unless your blinkie is over-driving the 5mm LEDs but I have never heard of this).

I can sell you some in small quantities but if you want to get them direct there are lots of places. I buy mine off ebay @:

https://stores.ebay.ca/HKJE-Led-Lamp-...Q3amesstQQtZkm

Just look at the 5mm red LED section and choose the highest MCD rating (25,000 MCD).

If you only want a couple you can PM me and we can talk.

If you know how to solder it is easy. If you don't know how to solder you will have to learn before you can try this.

Along these lines, I just found the "Seculite" led tail light at my LBS. It is a very bright LED tail light that draws so little power I was able to add it to a Union bottle generator head & tail light combo with no bad effects. Makes a good supplement to the existing light system. Don
