Ordering sunglasses online
 

Just wondering - I'm having a hard time finding sunglasses that properly fit my narrow face. Some of them do, but they tend to be >$150.

Lots of promising options on the web, but I can't find them in nearby stores to try/compare.

Anybody have any pointers for buying shades online, or is the store the only way to go?

Order from Performance (use the BF referral link!), they have a no-questions return policy which I've used a number of times (with the amount of stuff we buy from them I don't think they mind!). Sure there's a small hit if you send 'em back but if you're looking to order some other stuff anyway or maybe several pairs at once to try, it might be worth your while.

I just ordered some wraparounds with prescription insert from safetyglassesusa.com. Safety glasses are cheap, durable, look pretty good and come in sizes for narrow faces, unusual nose shapes, etc.

Safety glasses are so cheap that even if I don't like them I don't return them because the shipping would almost cost more than the price of the glasses.

Not true of the ESS ICE wraparounds, which were $42, but my optician wanted $200 for the same pair so I'm not complaining.

Try www.campmor.com they have a lot of quality brands at really good discounts. the style may be a year or two old, but serengheti at $40 and old school vuarnet at $20 (my last purchases...a couple of years ago ymmv) is not bad

Go to Home Depot and have a look at some safety glasses. They are come in a variety of styles and are very inexpensive. At least you get to try them on and not have to worry about shipping etc.

Has anybody put prescription lenses in safety glasses? Or even in any cycling frames?

My wife has the Performance Siren multi-lens sunglasses. She has a very narrow face and these were the only reasonable ones we could find that fit (besides kid sunglasses!). They are quite nice for $21.98. Don't let the low price fool you:

They sell safety glasses with prescription lenses.
I bought a pair of ESS ICE 2.4's and bought the prescription insert. They're ugly but they work very well and if they get bashed up I buy a new $9 lens and I'm back in business.

I just got them a few days ago. I'm really sorry I didn't get them sooner; it's great not getting the road dust and salt in my eyes every time a car passes me (I ride on gravel roads, and when it's dry I have to coast with my eyes closed for several seconds whenever a car passes me, or I'll be stopping because I can't see at all for a minute).
