How do you take your headlight pics?

How do you guys take your headlight beam comparison pictures? I can't imagine that you're using a digicam with full-auto exposure!

What do you do to ensure a "fair" comparison? Do you have manual aperture, exposure, white balance...?

Speaking for myself, I switch my Canon to Manual and specify ISO, F-stop and exposure, and then I goof with the exposure time until I get photos that resemble what I see with my eyes, and use that setup for all the pics. I suppose I should make a point of manually specifying white balance too, so halogen comes out more yellow and LED comes out more blue.

I use either a nikon d200 or d70s on full manual, i always take a reference shot using a widely used light like one of the cateye's for comparison, then lock everything.
