Interesting, but there's no way to attach clips/straps to it. Other than that, they're pretty keen. If I had a townie cruiser (which my current commuter may become that when I build my new bike) I'd seriously consider these.

Reading further on their UK site, they are developing a toeclip/strap version for early next year and a clipless version later down the road. I hadn't ridden in toeclips for over 10 years, but might consider using a version of this in winter. The price though is still too steep...
