Anybody catch last night's The Office? Jim has started bike commuting. He's learned that it makes him sweaty.

First thing I said to my wife when we were watching last night was... they'll be talking about this on the forum tomorrow.

His new coworker is bright to dump the Jagermeister shots into the trash can. At least Jim's getting a safe ride home.... ;) :D

That was pretty fun. I enjoy that show.

Comparing a newbie cyclist on a hybrid type bike with basket and all to a roadie veteran who's in shape was fun. I liked the way they showed him all sweaty. Very cute.

I'm glad to hear the Office has a bike commuter. I vowed not to watch the American version since I'm such a huge fan of the British version. I figured it was best to let the characters end with the original.

On another TV note, Michael Bluth on Arrested Development was a long-time dedicated bicycle commuter. For almost 10 years, the show implied. He finally had to stop because he was riding to work in the southern California (the OC) during the summer and showed up at an investors' meeting dripping with sweat in his suit.

I felt the same way, particularly after the Coupling fiasco. But we decided to give it a chance and we're glad we did. The American Office keeps the same cringe-worthiness but it has its own distinctly American voice. It's worth watching.

That word--cringe--that is key to describing this show. I cringed seeing Jim all sweaty after his ride, which he obviously thought was fine. Also, my son cringed and left when the boss took the microphone at the Indian festival. It is a show of cringes. Some are too cringy, some not so. I enjoy it.:eek: :D

What kind of bag was Jim's boss carrying when he was leaving to ride home? It didn't look like a particularly comfortable one to wear on a ride. Looked kinda blocky to me.

What kind of bike was Jim's boss riding? It looked like it had a curved top tube. Specialized Tarmac maybe?

That's probably the one and only time Jim is going to bike to work on the show. They could have just left the joke with the "Ha ha, he's all sweaty, and that's what you get for trying something new," but as a cycle nerd, I appreciated that they also showed, through his badass boss, that cyclecommuting is possible and fun.

i missed all but the last few mintues of it. i walked in the door, my GF was watching it, and i immediately said: hey, whose bike is that?

The line as I heard it was her comment "Nice basket."
Although he didn't show a reaction to the double entendre, she wasn't making a compliment about Jim's bicycle equipment.
