The Office: Jim Is A Bike Commuter
Anybody catch last night's The Office? Jim has started bike commuting. He's learned that it makes him sweaty.
Keep it up, Jim! It just gets better and better! PS: You need a helmet and light/blinkie. |
and a would be drunk cyclist
|
First thing I said to my wife when we were watching last night was... they'll be talking about this on the forum tomorrow.
His new coworker is bright to dump the Jagermeister shots into the trash can. At least Jim's getting a safe ride home.... ;) :D |
That was pretty fun. I enjoy that show.
Comparing a newbie cyclist on a hybrid type bike with basket and all to a roadie veteran who's in shape was fun. I liked the way they showed him all sweaty. Very cute. |
I'm glad to hear the Office has a bike commuter. I vowed not to watch the American version since I'm such a huge fan of the British version. I figured it was best to let the characters end with the original.
On another TV note, Michael Bluth on Arrested Development was a long-time dedicated bicycle commuter. For almost 10 years, the show implied. He finally had to stop because he was riding to work in the southern California (the OC) during the summer and showed up at an investors' meeting dripping with sweat in his suit. |

Oh no!!! Our dvr missed it last night. Crap.
|
How about Steve Carrell in the 40 Year Old Virgin? "
Everyone rides a bike.........when they're six" |
Heh - Yeah I said, "I'm not going to be the first one to post about this. I'm just not going to do it."
:) "What's the basket for?" I wanted to say, "It's for his work clothes but he hasn't figured that out yet." And he can't hold his liquor. That Jager bottle was half empty when they started! :p Hilarious episode though. |

What kind of bag was Jim's boss carrying when he was leaving to ride home? It didn't look like a particularly comfortable one to wear on a ride. Looked kinda blocky to me. |
What kind of bike was Jim's boss riding? It looked like it had a curved top tube. Specialized Tarmac maybe?
|
That's probably the one and only time Jim is going to bike to work on the show. They could have just left the joke with the "Ha ha, he's all sweaty, and that's what you get for trying something new," but as a cycle nerd, I appreciated that they also showed, through his badass boss, that cyclecommuting is possible and fun.
|
Oh, and you are all massive dorks. :)
|
i missed all but the last few mintues of it. i walked in the door, my GF was watching it, and i immediately said: hey, whose bike is that?
|
Do you have the internet version?
I gave up the TV also. |

The line as I heard it was her comment "Nice basket."

What on earth made you dig up this thread?
|
This episode was re-ran last night.

ZOOOOOOMMMMMBBBBIEEEEEEE THREEAAAAAD. Back from the dead.
|
Yeah, it was on again last night. On TBS. :)
But really...what's the "nice basket" double entendre? |
from UrbanDictionary.com:
1. basket 63 up, 12 down http://www.urbandictionary.com/images/thumbsup.gifhttp://www.urbandictionary.com/images/thumbsdown.gif 1. A reference to the outline of the male genital area as viewed through pants/swimsuit/undergarment. See also package. Term often used by gay men in assessing the potential size of a potential suitor. Gee whillikers, Luke - did you notice the size of Lawrence's basket? Jeff Stryker ain't got nothin on THAT piece o' meat. Come - lets fetch another crantini, and shake our booty to some 80's Europop! |
Anyone happen to catch the movie "Burn After Reading"?
I really liked Brad Pitt's character in that movie. If you haven't seen it, it is worth it just for the handful of bicycle references. My favorite, "You think that is a Schwinn?" |
