I have 2 700x23-28 tube and a 26" 175-195 tube in my bag. My bike takes the 700, but if I see a MTB
with a flat then I have that covered to. I also have a patch kit and tools. Never walk again due to flats.

Around here I would expect to pay about $10 for a flat fix, tube included. Tubes are usually $4.

Anything more than $15 and you're right to roll your eyes.
But you should learn to do it. It's really a very simple procedure, and there's nothing like the feeling of accomplishing it yourself. Sounds hokey, but it's true. Now if I could just learn how to true my rims. . . .

Where is this sacred shop you speak about?

This is one of those DIY fixes that's great. You don't want to walk your bike for miles on end.

Saddle bag, spare tube, couple of levers, some kind of inflation (pump / co2, take your pick) and you're pretty much set. Patch the tube when you get home.

Wow, you resurrected a six year-old thread for that?

They went out of business in 2008.

On the way home (walk of shame) I stopped at the same bike shop that I purchased my bike from last week. They changed the tube free of charge.
