Things found along the road/mup
Hello All
Well since the snow is melting in some parts of the country. What have you found along the road/bikeway like tools, bike parts. I have found a 10mm wrench, and a blinkie, that still works, after new batteries, and two screwdrivers. Looks like I won't have to buy too many tools this year. What have you found?:) |
Two innertubes
A spoke A pair of Performance house-brand glasses w/ clear lenses $5.00 A glove (found the other one 1/2 mile away a week later) A vagrant's encampment: sleeping bag, camp stove, backpack, etc. (behind a bridge pylon) An entire BMX bike (abandoned 1/2 way down the river bank; probably there for years in the underbrush based on the amount of rust.) |
A moose that I ran over this weekend (pics upon request).
A trail of money that unfortunately led to a jogger who did not zip up his jacket pocket. |
Kid's car seat, 2 ton jack (love it :D), gloves, knives, hats, 3 wet suits and assorted surfing attire, lots of money, perfectly good tire tubes that someone replaced a tube with then littered the road side with. (can't fix a flat or find a trashcan, *******). What else, oh wrenches, sunglasses, life jackets, kayak paddle and a surf board to name a few.

I don't know if I'd want to ride an MUP with bobcats present. I don't want to be another meals on wheels tragedy. |
My rear blinky (lost the previous day), a helmet, a patch kit, and a sweet neon green and purple fanny pack (Hello 90s).
Seriously, who wears neon fanny packs now? |

I found a small Pioneer remote control unit. I thought it was for a TV until a neighbor said that it's for a car stereo system. Oh great! It's bad enough with cell phones, but now we have to deal with cagers trying to find the remote control that slipped between the seat cushions. I mean, how far is it from the dashboard knobs anyway?

$20 about 10 miles outside of Kremling, C0
$27 and an ATM card along a highway in Oregon A kitten A fly rod case with 2 brand new fly rods, reels and line (Still have the 2 wt Loomis rod) A ball peen hammer on the side of Green Mountain here in Denver. It was way up the side of the hill where there used to be 4 wheeling about 15 years before. A guy and girl doing the wild thing against a tree. A brand new mountain bike leaning against a tree along Clear Creek. Found the owner through the bikeshop on the sticker. He'd crashed and was dazed and walked away from his bike and couldn't remember where he'd left it  A blowup doll 4 naked teenagers in a rather compromising position A guy and girl doing the wild thing in a pickup truck. He was outside, she was inside. He had his pants around his ankles. It was about 35 F outside. That's determination;) |
An "alien" tool
3 inner tubes for a bicycle 20 dollars A Yanni CD in the case still and a blockbuster gift card with $2.50 left on it |
Gloves, shoes, money (not much), and hundreds of pounds of grimy, salty sand.
|
$5 bill.
A marble. Plastic toy dinosaur (triceratops). Not bike stuff, but still fun. |
Jesus.

http://homepage.mac.com/awcg/.Pictures/Bike/Moose.jpg Note the murderous reddened eyes. I'm lucky. In the northern latitudes moose can be massively large and aggressive. Here in the south, although they are more statuesque, moose are far rarer, smaller, and more plastic. --A |
holy crap... that thing looks angry! :)

An abandoned upside down VW Beetle with the lights on and engine still running...in the bar ditch along one of the lake roads that I ride.

I understand the police found the driver sleeping it off in a Waffle House three miles down the road. |
A $20 bill.
Lots of used condoms (causing some violent swerves on my part, guess I'm squeamish). A severed doll's head complete with empty, burnt-out eye sockets. A ravine with about ten or fifteen (newer) cars and trucks dumped into it. Enough burrito wrappers to fill a stadium. |
First, I'm trying to get my head around the fundamental assumption in this thread about the so-called "melting snow." Looking forward to that.
Cyccommute, I haven't found much. Sounds like Denver -- or at least the parts you ride around -- are a lot more interesting than Boston. |
A checkbook. Also a load of AOL CD's in the iddle of the road. Thats all I can remember from recent times.
