weighed my bike
36.5# w/ fenders, lights, etc... need to weigh the packed panniers to get a true GVW (gross vehicle weight; bike + load +me). I think I have at least 10# to lose to bring the whole GVW down below 200#.

Me + bike + backpack full o' junk ~= 300 pounds.
245 (me) I'd guess about 35 for the bike Usually 20 for my lunch, papers, clothes, etc. |
What kind of tank, er bike, is it?
My Giant OCR-T is a tad on the hefty side, with fenders, rack, loaded panniers, NiMH halogen system, etc. I have been losing weight gradually since January... would like to drop another 5... will probably still be around 210 GVW. |
My wet weather bike weighs over 45 pounds with my regular load. Of course my light is powered by a 12volt lead acid battery. :D

Sometimes I ride to the local transfer station and get up on the truck scale. I don't remember what my last weight was, but that's a fun diversion sometimes. It's nice to know people in places like that.
They almost always hold any bikes they find for me to look at before they meet their ultimate doom. Haven't taken any home yet, but I'm still hoping that someday there'll be my dream bike... right there with the rest of the garbage. :D |

I've been losing weight, too. I'm sorta stuck on a plateau at 245 for the last couple weeks, down from 262 at the start of the year. I'm aiming for the upper 220s. |
My normal commuter weighs 42 lbs in it's normal configuration. (Lights, fenders, rack, panniers, equipment)

The non-snow bike is ~20 lbs, and the snow bike is ~25. Both have fenders. The biggest difference I find is the mass of the tires: 250g each vs. 900g each. The non-snow bike accelerates so much better despite having significantly higher gearing. I'm sure that the snow has nothing to do with it...

The last weighing of my bike, it came in at a hefty 51 lbs with all the winter gear attached. I have since eliminated or updated to lighter bicycling gear, and hopefully reducing the bike's weight to the mid to low 40 range.

My main ride is about 32 pounds all-up, with big fat 1.75" tires, fenders, front and rear racks and various doohickies. Because I seldom carry more than 5-10 lbs in my messenger bag and because I'm pretty small, I doubt that my GVW ever tops 180 while I commute. Of course, this is my touring bike, and I can carry a lot more weight than that! I've carried 20 or 30 pounds of groceries home, and it handled like a champ.
Weight in the low 30 lb range doesn't bother me too much. I'm used to bikes weighing about that much, and consider that a pretty good weight for a useful, well-equipped bicycle. A light bike is probably not a very useful bike. Besides, my "stripped" SS beater still comes in at 27 pounds or so, and I haven't added the fenders yet! And my road bike is about 24 pounds. I don't have very exacting standards for bicycle weight. |
My Marin MTB of indeterminate model or age weighs 35.5 lbs on a postal scale witth fenders and rack, but without lock (3.2 lbs) or saddlebags (1?).

Bike: 27 Bike stuff, water etc: 6 Pannier contents : 26 on Fridays and Mondays: That makes 274. |

Bike: 29 Rear bag and Rack (with tools and tube): 5 Computer and Headlight (6vdc battery): 5 Total: 219 |
I weighed my panniers w/ a representative load this morning, 15.5# (incl the bags), so 52# of bike and stuff on it, ~160# of me. Hoping to get myself down to 150# (mostly so I will be under 160 w/ clothes and shoes), does not look like GVW <200# is happening.
I think I am after all in a similar ballpark w/ my 5 yr old, biomass:bikemass ratio-wise, 40# of kid to ~15# of bike. My chain stays better lubed though. I'm going to go and reread that thread in the 'touring' folder about keeping touring kit <20#... (probably does not include 2# of apples I found in my panniers this am) |

Well let's see
27 lbs bike, Geek lights, fenders, battery + bag, lock, tools , pump, extra reflectant, waterbottle + 2 cages 10 lbs clothing for ride, waterproof shoes, helmet, day pack, makeup clothing for work 126 lbs self === 163lbs oooff no wonder I'm out of breath. When summer comes, the bike will loose about 8lbs |
