I was blown away by the number and beauty of commuter/townie/city/porteur bikes at NAHBS this year (not to mention all the others). It seems like racks, bags, upright bars, and fenders are really in, at least with the small custom frame builders, right now.
Now if these bikes could get translated to mass production frames at cheaper prices... |
i'd like to have the brooks saddle concession at the show!!! lot's o' bikes rockin' da brooks fo' sho'!!
i love bicycle porn. i really do. :) :) :D |

ANT bikes are so retro beautiful.

I think he's the smartest builder around right now. High end design with everyday functional style. I drool over Vanilla's as much as the next bike geek, but Sacha's work is in the high art class of absolute complete custom hot rodding bikes. ANT Mike, though, is putting together the smartest designs with style to match an everyday riding bike.

tons of pics from the show if you browse flickr with 'nahbs' tag. There were such ridiculously awesome bikes there, it was more than a little overwhelming. But yes, in addition to the trackies and race bikes there were lots of high-end commuter type bikes.
