I keep mine in a rack by the building I work in. What's nice is that it's in a restricted access area inside an Air Force base, so there's no worries about theft.
Hell, I've seen 4000 dollar bikes sitting in the racks without a lock in sight. If I were an unscrupulous thieving bastard, I could have myself a few sweet rides. |
Where ever you put it just make sure it has a big lock on it. I have an On Guard Beast and beleive me it is a beast and not very portable but then again I didn't buy it to carry around. Our bike sheds have 2 cameras on them, is in front of the security building and in a private road but many other commuters have had their bikes stolen in the last 2 years but mine has always been safe.

I keep my bike in my office with me. So when my co-workers cars are either being stolen or vandlized I am able to watch my bike during my entire shift.

The wide hallways in our basement area are already used for storage of various equipment and surplus items. I park next to the wall near my work area and walk by the bike several times per day. The building houses a state museum and the basement levels are used for behind the scenes personnel and collection storage. The hardest part is using a public elevator to access this level. We can't let any visitors see the secret code to access the basement levels and the stairs are for emergency use only.

I guess I'm pretty lucky. There're bike lockers in the parking garage behind the office building I'm in. In exchange for a deposit of $14, they gave me a key to have for as long as I work in the building. When I leave, I give them the key and key give back the check.

Im a blue collar guy. Park the bike right in my work area. Even let a few of the guys ride it cause it looks so cool. Right next to the big Mitsubishi Horizontal Mill. Its bigger than your garage:).

Mine resides in the server room at my work. Only once has anyone ever moved it, and they regretted it. (I messed with them for a week, randomly either shutting off their internet access altogether, or just removing access to their favorite non-work related sites. Yes, I'm an evil li'l bastage. *cackles* )

No, no safe place for bikes. Just a half covered area on a part of the loading dock that trucks can't reach. The 3 or 4 of us that ride out of 95 to 100 workers lock to one side of a railing with a wheelchair ramp on the other. Only good point is that most of the others do not even lock up their K-mart MTB specials. One guy has a light cable lock. I have a good U-bolt and lock frame and rear wheel. I'd be the last one stolen., maybe. My bike is worth three times the others put together so I will be upgrading my security tomorrow. When the rains stop I will leave my old beater truck there and put the bike inside, locked to the steering column.
