excellent montage!

Edinburgh is one of the world's premier bicycling cities, with the great network of routes. I think I must have ridden the most part of your commute when staying with my buddy on London Road. On the few occasions I've been bored in town, my mind wanders to the Firth and inevitably, to the Bridge (the road bridge hardly counts, in this context....).

Since my friend used to be the ranger for Arthur's seat/Holyrood, I used to like to borrow his carbon fibre mountain bike and ride out looking for him (he weighs a good deal less than me; I'm always afraid of damaging that bike....)- imagine, a city with mountain biking at it's heart!

Last year I spent 10 hours on a plane home, persuading a couple from Sacramento to add Edinbugh to their European Itinerary. It's worth the effort.

Wow, what a route!!!!!!! Nice area to ride in. Good pics. Maybe I should visit the land of my ancestors.

Nice photos! What a beautiful bridge you got there. And the photo crossing the river...wow. Nice.

Brilliant photographs.

I've been reading Ian Rankin's "Rebus" books recently, about a Edinburgh detective..not the sort of bloke who spends much time on a bike..but he is always talking about different places in Edinburgh. Some of those names in the photographs sound familiar from the books.

Thanks

Great pictures Chewa, and a nice varied commute by the look of it. I can understand why there are some "no go" days in the winter - especially the bridge over the Firth... It must be really great in the summer

Cheers,

Ed

They did a Rebus series here on TV (starring John Hannah), and one of the locations was at the bottom of my road at home, the other the restaurant directly opposite the garage I park my bike in.

Aaah, good to see your commute route again :D
My thoughts go back to the day i entered Edinburgh, i had my lunch on Princess street and a bagpiper was playing old songs, one word.....Amazing!
I used the most of Chewa`s route to get through the city and over the bridge, its a hilly bugger, i tell you!

Thank you for the photo essay of your very scenic commute. Your pictures make me want even more to visit my ancestral homeland.

I spent a week over there last spring...no bike...but really miss it and hope to get back there with a bike some time soon. Thanks for the memories.

Absolutely beautiful commute - I wish mine was like that. We don't have any interesting historic buildings out here - just rather soul-less tourist traps. :(
