help me choose a bike lock
For roughly the same price, would you buy a kryptonite NY noose (2'3") or a NY chain w/ EV disk lock (3'3").
Have a suggestion for a different lock? |
How about a NYFU?

Have a suggestion for a different lock? Can't hurt to have two locks that use two different mechanisms. I'm on an engineering college campus, and I park my $1000+dollar recumbent next to student xmart specials all the time. I use a 5 digit heavy duty Onguard combination lock, and a trek-rebranded kryptonite ulock with a cable (the only kryptonites the local bike shop had that were not trek branded were the bicable kind). The guy at the lbs kept trying to sell me a combination lock, and I kept explaining to him I had one already, that was a very nice chain that was heavy duty, and that I did not want another one. He said bikes never get stolen on campus (several have been stolen this semester). Almost every other bike on campus uses a cheap combination cable lock. I moved here from a top twenty crime city, where, due to having just a combination lock, someone stole an identical recumbent from me. So yeah, I would suggest a NYFU chain, and a 3000 or other mini-ulock perhaps? |
