What's your bike called?

Another thread (Susan has neighbours) got me thinking about this. Maybe more of my bikes need names? My tandem has three. It's either

Daisy
Tandemonium
The Limo

What about y'all?

I love Tandemonium, it's a classic in the making.

And surprisingly enough, seeing how as I started the other thread, my bikes name is Susan.

My brother rides "your mom".

I mount "Fujisan" (early 80's fuji s12-ltd) and I haven't named my downtube folder.

My Raleigh tourer, with racks, panniers, trailer hitch, could be The Truck. Not very inspired though.

I think I need to get a brown bike, so I can call it Downtown Julie Brown. Perhaps if I paint my lockup beater brown?

I also need to name a bike something random Japanese cartoon sounding. Like Super OK Urusei Turbohammer.

It used to be "orange bike," "green bike" and "the fixie," but I just took most of the components off of green bike (an old EF Schwinn) and put them on a black frame (old 4130 Schwinn). Now my commuter has a black frame, wheels, hubs, bar tape, saddle, fenders, chainring, etc. "Darth Vader's bike" keeps coming to mind. I guess I need a black cape and when I pass people, instead of saying "on your left" I'll say "I have you now."

I can't do most of the standard ones. It can't be "the Fix", cos I have two. It can't be "The Bates", cos I'v got an EG Bates AND an HR Bates. It just doesn't work like that. Luckily, very few people are ever interested enough to talk about my bikes with me.

Bikes: Cannondale t-700 [commuter], Cannondale MT-800 [Tandem so the Lil Misses can keep up], GT I drive Team [My tricked out Racer MTB]

My Cannondale t700 with rack, fenders, panniers, and the works is:
"The Family Truckster"

The new Fetish is yet unamed. It's all black with cabon gizmos, kind of a counter culture look. I'll think of something... but not yet. It's still a work in progress.

Mtb and tandem are "Mountain Bike" and "Tandem"

The LeMond and I call the other one the LOOK...

I don't generally try to come up with names for inanimate objects, no matter how fond of them I may be.

Not a 'weight weenie', but I often refer to my recumbent as either the 'red sled' or if I'm going slowly uphill or fast down hill the 'lead sled'.

Bikes: 2018 Ghost Square Trekking B2.8 e-bike; 2015 MEC Cote gravel/touring bike; 1985 Boyes-Rosser tourer, now outfitted as Winter Trundle-bike

I refer to mine as my trusty steed, but I don't know if that really counts as a name...

If I had more than one bike I might be more likely to name them.

I posted this back in 2005:

My shopper, an '89 Raleigh, has front and rear baskets, spring-loaded seat and comfort bars. Thus, I called them "The Commuter" and "The Shopper."

This weekend, my wife said, "You should give your bikes names. It's only right, considering how much time and attention they get." My kids, (ages 8, 9 and 12) were all for it and began tossing out all kinds of crazy names.

It soon became apparent that if I didn't come up with names, they would. And those names may or may not have been the most flattering or appropriate titles.

I have always liked the story of Don Quijote, so I named the commuter Rocinante, (Seņor Quijote's old horse) and the shopper Dapple (Sancho Panza's mule). Rocinante means something like supernag and the horse in the story is a male. However the family and I are calling her Rosie for short. The names are still not the most flattering, but seem rather appropriate considering the "crazy old man" component in the story of the Man of La Mancha.
Since that post, I have added two MTBs to my stable and built a beach/road frankenbike from the ground up.
Also Rosie has had a make over:
Before
After

In keeping with the Don Quijote theme, I named my first MTB Peg (after the wooden peg horse). When I got my Specialized Hard-Rock, it only seemed appropriate, or INappropriate to name it Special Ed (get it, Special iz ed).

As for the frankenbike, I spent $4.00 on a cable guide and about $6.00 on brake pads. Everything else was either canibalized off of other bikes hanging in my shop or recycled from dumpsters and trashpiles. I named it Freeride. Pics
