If the ride of the valkyries was a bicycle or the Four Horsemen rode bikes instead, I saw it in a dream last night. In my dream I came across a spotless, glistening black bicycle whose top tube was higher than my head, and I am 6 feet tall! I was trying to envision how tall someone would have to be to ride a bike that size when I realized that it was a TANDEM. Even the stoker bar looked evil - ends pointed and oriented straight down, also glistening black. The bike was not even locked up; who could or would dare, steal it? I went into the building where the bike was parked to ask whose it was. I had to see this person. The receptionist asked another lady wasn't it so-and-so's, a vaguely Scandinavian sounding name. That figures, doesn't it? But the other lady added that she thought he had died which left me wondering why his bike was still sitting out there. I guess I woke up about that time. Thinking back, now I am irritated that I didn't notice what component group it had. Am also wondering whether this dream was inspired by the fact that a very nice road warrior on a beautiful black Somec caught up with me and rode along, chatting, for a half mile or so before I had to turn off.
I had ANOTHER friendly road warrior encounter on the way home. A late meeting kept me at work until after 6. When I got to the lakefront, probably close to 7 I encountered a really strung out group ride. The local racing club does practice races a about 6 on Tuesdays. Everyone I saw must have been winding down because they were going pretty slowly. I pulled out behind a couple of guys and just kind of paced them about 20 feet back, not close enough to draft. After a while I realized that one of them was my favorite mechanic at my LBS, the guy who has done just about all the work on my bike. He races road and track. At a safe time I greeted him, and they made space for me between them. We exchanged a couple of pleasantries, and I rode on ahead. I wasn't sure if they meant for me to ride along for a while, but I felt a little uncomfortable, like I was butting in.

All in all, yesterday was a very interesting day.

My goodness, but you have interesting dreams! If it comes back, you will have to keep us advised on the outcome!

I had a very pleasant surprise on my commute this morning, as well. When I was about 7 miles from work, I saw another rider off in the distance. I thought it was another commuter that I had not talked with in a long time, so I grabbed another gear, and picked up my pace. Well, I worked and worked, and I was gaining, but not very fast! This obviously was not the person whom I thought it was! I eventually caught up to a lady road warrior that I have seen from time to time, and we rode together for several miles. I told her about my weekend adventures, and she said she they sounded like fun, and would like to come along sometime! How cool is that!?! I guess the only thing better than riding is having someone to share it with!
