What is your chased-by-dog count up to so far this year?

So how many dogs have you been chased by so far this year? My count is up to 2, one Rottweiler and one giant long haired chiwawa (the chiwawa encounter was just a couple hours ago). I was riding my bike home from the store and the chiwawa came after me and then stopped after about 50ft. I would have picked it up and brought it home but my one pannier was full of beer and TV dinners; and I didn't think it would be too wise to have a possible rabid dog in one hand while trying to steer with the other and being more off balanced than usual. The Rottweiler situation could of been much worse if it wasn't for the car that it ran in front of. Not sure if the dog got hit or not, but he did stop chasen me.

No dogs chasing but my count for ducking out of the darkness under my front wheel is three (night riding on unlit paths really has it's exciting moments)

Zero unless you count my neighbor dogs (rottweiler, English bulldog and golden retriever), who mug me for dog treats.

None so far. Shake up a warm beer and let that Rottie chew on it. Last year I was up to 2 by this time. I can do with zero.

Zero.

Late last year I was briefly chased by one in a park at 5:30am. Scared the heck out of me. Consequently. I yelled at it and the owner who had let the dog of the leash.

Several - at least 3

My best friend is a little black, fat dog that sits in his carport until he hears me. Fortunately he's pretty far away and I'm going downhill to work. I call him names and laugh as I speed by at 30mph. On the way home he's on my front wheel like gum while I crawl uphill.

1. older labrodor just kinda nervous that i suprised him in his yard and he was trying to see who i was. he chased me doing the standard "woof woof woof". i've never been afraid of labs, they are big but generally sweet

2. mean doberman with a spike collar and a very long chain. he was able to get very close to the road but his chain ran out and he stood 6 ft from me snarling and growling

3. a black lab came out of nowhere at a large regional park. no owner in sight. he was very quiet and playfully followed me for about 1/2 mile bolted off through the woods. he had a clean coat and looked healthy so i assume he lived nearby.

My dad was attacked by some kind of large mix dog. it tore his rear tire off (80psi road tire too!) he then beat it with his frame pump until it decided to go away.

I got aggressively sniffed once, but not chased. Came close with a herd of deer though.
Mostly I pass horses, rabbits and deer. My commute is nice, wildlife almost outnumber cars.

Zero. And that's because the only one that tried was on a leesh. Owner stopped it dead in it's tracks.

I was chased by a rottweiler the other week. I stopped. It stopped. We both looked at each other. It ran back to its yard. I had the pepper spray at the ready the entire time.

I get chased daily but the mutt's chain stops him about 8 feet from the road. Poor fella. He keeps trying though. One day he's not going to be chained and

Of course he'll have to jump to reach my toes so I don't think he's a serious threat to me. Maybe a few stiches worse case.

Technically 0 because 1 that scared the crap out of me was actually behind that invisible fencing (insert Monty Python joke here) and stopped short at the fence line.

I don't keep count. It's definitely not zero, but I seem to remember several ranging from quite small to a few large labs. No Rotts or Sheps yet, but I expect that will happen sometime when I start riding more. So far this year, I have caught one dog (I catch them if I can) so it doesn't get hit by a car and the owner as well as the cops become aware of a situation that is potentially bad for both humans and the dog.

Good job , I've given that advice at times. If I dismount and/or stop, the dogs view me as a man not a bike to chase. Staring it down 's good too. I've been lucky, I've had a long run of not having problems. I HAVE been "aggressively sniffed" as one member statd. Dogs that are chasers just are, the same dogs would chase me the same place, the owvers were tgo blaim, they ought to keep the dogs contained. I returned the favor twice.I chased an owner years ago and caught him. His dog never chased me again.

I would like to have seen that!

Oh, for the record--no dogs. Mostly just bunnies scrambling madly to get out of my way .

I've only been chased by one dog ever, and it was about 2 months ago. It was also about half the height of one of my 20" wheels, so I just laughed as it ran along behind me.

Depends on your definition of chase. If you mean actually chasing me down the road trying to catch me and maybe bite me, it's never happened. If you count every time a dog barks at me and runs out to the road, and maybe runs alongside or a bit behind, a ways away, probably a dozen times a year but I don't bother remembering those. I just slow down a bit, tell them to knock it off and go back home, and they do.

Twice this year by the same pug in my neighborhood. He gave up both times when I started going up the hill to my place. Dogs these days are so lazy...

Only once this year. I didn't even notice until I heard someone yelling "Stop Precious Stop!" I took a look behind me and there's this 8" high fur ball running right through heavy traffic with the owner running down the middle of the lane about 50 yards behind. I pulled over and the owner caught up to us before Precious tore me to bits.

One chases me daily--this yappin' dog runs hard at me. But then he gets near the end of his property and gets shocked by his electric fence. Stops him in his tracks, so much so that the grass is worn out there, in fact. I love it.

I got chased by a goose for a moment or two today. Rode through a flock of them on the MUP and one didn't like my attitude, evidently. Didn't see any young about, but they could have been. Saw a turtle today, too, but I couldn't tell if he was chasing me.

Hey, I've got a pug. It's adorable, but resembles your comment. Lazy, lazy, lazy. She took two walks yesterday and chased a bunny for a few feet. Those event were seperated by naps and dinner and more naps.

Only 1, and he didn't get close. There's this squirrel that ran along side me twice this week, though. That little tree rat is fast!
