Newly discovered jinx
We all know about the jinx caused by mentioning how long it's been since you've last had a flat. Well, I've discovered a similar jinx that applies to clipless pedals. After raving about them in another thread and explaining to anyone who would care to listen (admittedly few) how it was incredibly easy to clip out, I had the dreaded slow clipless fall on the way to work this morning -- stopping for a red light at an extremely busy intersection filled with people on bikes who were not falling over. It didn't help that I started laughing when I realised what was happening... that made getting unclipped even harder
So that's it: I'm not talking about my pedals ever again. ;) |
HAhahahahahahaaaaaa.... (only because I've been there a couple of times :p )

Thanks for your moral support ;) :D

You must be new here.

Been riding clipless for a couple of months now. Apart from an initial fall or two - one in my living room, one due to a stupid tactical error (start in correct gear!), all has been well, even avoided a couple of close calls while riding in a group and coming to a quick stop.
So I was riding the Schuylkill Trail all the way to Philly for the first time from Valley Forge and I was almost at the very end of the asphalt where it just ends. There is an exit into Center city across the Conrail tracks which appears to be gravel on dirt. For reasons unknown to the more rational part of my brain, I confidently turn left and attempt to ride my 28mm tires across what turns out to be a "bed" of gravel. As things start to go bad, I successfully clip out on on my right side, this would be good if not for the fact that I was falling to my left.... Well at least gravel does offer a pretty soft landing, way better than asphalt or concrete:rolleyes: Plus my gloves were key in avoiding any bloodshed and only one onlooker to observe my embarassment... |

 That's exactly what happened to me this morning! |
This winter, I shot off how I'd been riding clipless for 6 years and never had a fall. 2 this past winter.
Also, I get near constant flats and mechanical problems. |
