Sidi Dragon 2

Anyone know much about them? I'm on a Trek 520 touring bike but I wanted something that would be good for walking around in as well. So I was deciding between the Dominator 5 or the Dragon 2 and wasn't sure what to do. The guys in my shop convinced me that the replaceable sole system makes the Dragon worth doing. So a week ago I ordered them thinking I was getting a sweet price, then I check my bank account and it appears that I didn't get that awesome deal that I thought. I've also been doing some research and it seems that the replaceale sole tends to wear out quicker than the rigid sole on the Dom . So I'm at the point now to where I'm sure if I should just send the Dragons back and spend the $130 and get the Dom 5s (with discount) or if I should just eff it and go with the Dragons. By the way, I hate the way the Dragons look, I was just convinced that if you were buying Sidis you HAD to buy the replaceable sole. At this point it's a $100 price difference, I paid $220 shipped for the Dragon 2s. What do you think?

In my experience with my Dominators, Sidis are passable but far from ideal for walking, and just about perfect for biking.

I just received my Forte campus pedals (SPD one side, platform the other) and promptly ordered a pair of the Diadora Bike Patrol shoes, wanting something that looks office-presentable, easy enough to walk in so I can start looking into clipless on a budget before embracing it - I'm pretty apprehensive at learning how to handle the whole thing.

If you can get dominators for $130 you should. $220 for dragons still sounds like a good price. Most people are paying close to that for dominators.

I can't imagine what you'd be doing to wear a sole out... not on a bike shoe.

Cost of the Dragon + replacement soles and straps (probably be pretty worn / broken by that time also) would nearly cover 2 pairs of Dominators anyway. BTW, may I ask where you get that $130 deal for dominator from? That's pretty good.

Go with the Dominators. I have some Sidis with the replaceable sole... it's not a big special thing. some of the screws that hold the sole bits on have fallen out, but I haven't lost any tread pieces yet.

A perk of working at a bike shop and having a deal with Veltech

dominators are awesome. the dragons are cool but not really worth it for the price you can get dominators at. it takes a while to wear out the sole anyways, even if you do walk on them more than you should.

a girl i know got a pair of women specific dominators and geniuses from a sidi rep for 150 total, now that made me jealous. another perk of working at a bike shop.

As you can see, there aren't too many here with experience with Dragons. They're just so pricey!

Another vote for Dominators though. As others have said, if you can get Dominator 5's for $130, that's a great price.

A pair of 45.5 Dominator 6s were shipped this afternoon. Veltech doesnt have Dragons in stock. :D
