Take A Look Mirror - Normal or Compact?
I'd like to buy the Take A Look cycling mirror to mount on my sunglasses. It comes in normal length and "compact". I assume the normal length is for helmet mounting and the compact is more appropriate for mounting on glasses?
Thanks,
Scott

When I first started cycling, I got a sunglasses mounted mirror. I hated it. I found it being not lined up all the time, so I was constantly moving my head in all different ways to get a look behind me, and in doing so, completely taking my eyes off forward looking (which defeats its purpose).
I haven't had a mirror since then, but I'm thinking now to get a handlebar mounted one.

I like the compact on my glasses, which is what use 99% of the time...I've never tried it on my helmet, which has a Chuck Harris on it.

I have the regular size which I've used on both my helmet and my glasses. I think I prefer those extra three millimetres or so just for that little bit more view. In either place, once they're set up correctly, they're very useful and IMHO just about the best.

I just mounted a regular Take a Look on my glasses and I'm loving it.

I've had my for many years. It is the normal lenght. works great.
Rode my bike to a concert at the beach a couple of weeks ago, kept the glasses/mirror on and behind me were three beautiful ladies in bikinis dancing. So got to see two shows at a time.
bike to beach, nice
concert, good
dancing ladies, priceless

I use the round one at www.mec.ca and it's a bar attachment that's a velco on. I'm not big on the sunglass one. I already get looks from my safety setup and last thing I want is the grocery store all stare at the mirror on the glasses.
I find the velcro mirror works well but adds about 5 inches sticking out of the left side of the bike which in tight close quarters is a problem but I can fold it up and get by a little bit more.

I have the regular and I'm not too impressed. I had it on my glasses for a while and could never get it so I could see over my shoulders while in the drops (which I'm usually in). I moved it to my helmet visor and it's a little better, but it's still really hard to get it perfect. However, when it works, it's quite handy.

I have the regular length (never used the compact). I've used it for the last 3 or 4 years, on nearly every ride I go on.
Unlike some, I have no problems using them when in the drops, on the tops, on the hoods...whatever. With a quick sub-second glance, I can easily assess what's coming up from behind.
Bottom line...they're great.
I'd recommend getting the standard length, and then if you have any problems with them, get the compact if need be (I doubt you'll have any issues with the standard model).

I've have and have used both the regular and compact...I think the regular gives a better view and requires a little less turn of the head...the main advantage of the compact is that it's smaller, lighter and doesn't stick out so far...prolly better for wimpier framed glasses.
