Long(er) armed v-brake?

I've got a Surly Karate Monkey running 29inch Schwalbe Big Apple tires w/Avid Single Digit v-brakes. I recently purchased the new Planet Bike 29inch fenders. Surly designed the KM's rear brake mounts very low on the seat stays, so the cable on my current rear v-brake sits about 1/8 of an inch above the top of the tire--virtually no clearance, and the rear fender won't fit.

I remember seeing taller (than standard) armed v-brakes (Shimano Deore?) a few months ago but can't seem to find them now. Most on-line sites don't list the height of the brake arms, so I'm having trouble narrowing it down.

Anyone have any insights into where I can find some that would fit my bike? Are there v-brakes out there that have taller-than-standard arms? I know that running a rear disc brake would solve this problem--I'd like to avoid that if possible.

Thanks in advance.

Shimano markets the Deore v-brake as "Longer arm for better clearance with mud guard(107mm)."

Of course, they don't provide that measurement on any of their other v-brakes

But yeah, Deore is the only one I can think of that is advertised as long reach. Have you asked on the mountain bike forum? They might be more knowledgeable on the subject.

These tektro's are very long as well. I have a pair on the rear of a bike and I have a lot of clearance above the fender.
